Growing STEMinists

Women belong in the room where it happens.

We have curated a list of amazing organizations that offer great opportunities for young women to excell, find their niche, and become leaders not just in the STEM field but in all fields.

Organizations

Girl Up

Girl Up, a campaign of the United Nations Foundation, gives American girls the opportunity to channel their energy and compassion to raise awareness and funds for programs of the United Nations that help some of the world's hardest-to-reach adolescent girls.

GirlUp WiSci: The WiSci Girls STEAM Camp aims to help bridge that gap through access to education, mentorship opportunities, and transformational leadership training.

Girl Tech Boss

GirlTechBoss provides influential material in order to empower and inspire young girls to pursue entrepreneurship in Tech. Co-Founders, Melanie Herbert and Molly Cantillon, wanted to create an easily accessible platform for girls to learn about and connect with women in business and STEM. In order to create this platform, GTB currently provides online resources and interviews with women in STEM and business.

Girl Develop It

GDI’s mission to create welcoming, supportive opportunities for women and non-binary adults to learn software development skills. We believe in a world where all people are included and empowered in developing the future of technology. Through classes, projects, and events, GDI students develop code, confidence, and community.

Girls For A Change (GFAC) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit youth development organization aimed at empowering Black girls in Central Virginia to visualize their bright futures and potential through discovery, development, innovation, and social change in their communities.

Black Girls Code

Black Girls Code builds pathways for young women of color to embrace the current tech marketplace as builders and creators by introducing them to skills in computer programming and technology. Radical action is needed if we are to close the opportunity gap for Black women and girls. We lead a global movement to establish equal representation in the tech sector. Black Girls CODE is devoted to showing the world that Black girls can code and do so much more. Together, we are creating stronger economies and more equitable societies—ultimately realizing the true potential of democracy through diversity and inclusion.
